Sofa Wise welcomes enquiries from anyone looking to give some, or all of their free time to volunteering.  People volunteer for many reasons: to help us, gain work experience, meet new people, or simply make different use of their spare time. Whatever the motivation, you and Sofa Wise should benefit. We want to do everything possible to make your time with us productive and enjoyable.

There are three primary roles within the project:

  • Showroom/Office Assistant
  • Van Driver
  • Drivers Mate/Warehouse Operative 

Requirements vary depending on the role you are applying for.  Please call Ginny to discuss any of the above roles in detail.

Sofa Wise Volunteer Charter

We aim to make sure our volunteers:

  • Have a good understanding of what Sofa Wise is, and does
  •  Are a real part of the team 
  • Have access to appropriate training 
  • Are properly valued and thanked 
  • Are trusted 
  • Have safe working conditions 
  • Have adequate insurance cover 
  • Are consulted 
  • Can say “no” to any unreasonable request  

We ask our volunteers to: 

  • Be reliable 
  • Tell us if they are not available or may be late 
  • Respect confidentiality 
  • Treat all clients with respect and courtesy 
  • Take part in relevant training 
  • Participate in volunteers meetings 
  • Follow safety instructions when using any kind of tools or equipment
